Forever Missed - Never Forgotten

Taz - Departed 20 February 2004

Taz was a Dane with a a gentle and loving nature, he was always a nervous dog outside of the house and very sensitive to change. He lost the sight in one eye (at 3) due to a cataract and because of a heart complaint the consultant felt an operation was too risky. Our vets were wonderful and appreciated that Taz was a special dog with special needs and kept his visits to a minimum and always examined him outside, even in snow as he regularly collapsed in panic.

At 4 he developed a second (this time a congenitive) condition that meant that gradually he lost control of certain functions and became unstable on his feet. Tazzie still played and paraded his toys to anyone who visited and was a joy to have in our family.

In August 2003 it was felt that he would be unlikely to make Christmas and he was placed on minimum exercise. Taz being Taz didn't know that and continued being the loving baby he had always been but was noticeably slower. At the end we knew it was time to say goodbye, once again our vets were wonderful and put measures in place to make it as stress free as possible for him. Taz however for the first time in his life, showed no nerves and was finally at peace.

Ricoh - Departed 25 September 2004

Ricoh was a Dane of great character, he came to us as a rescue shortly before his second birthday. He was very thin and a stranger to hugs and kisses. Over his first two years with us he went from a dog who seldom wagged his tail to dog that would wag his tail in response to a look from us.

He was to put it mildly (after he found his feet) a dog of great naughtiness, if you heard a crash then Ricoh was normally in the midst of it. If he was not with you then you knew he was foraging for food - he loved to steal.

In January 2004 at 9, Ricoh had his first Gastric Torsion (twisted gut) and had a operation and recovered well. In the February he had his second, no operation this time and bounced back. In the April he had his third and required an operation again as well as the removal of his spleen. He became known as the wonder dog when once again he bounced back within 12 hours.

Sadly on 23 September he had his fourth GT, followed by a fifth the following day and a further one on the 25, at that stage we had to say goodbye. His memory lives on and there is many a time when Billy-Bob is naughty that we look and smile and say - Ricoh would have loved him.

Saffernee - Departed 2 March 2006

Saff was a beautiful 14 year old Devon Rex when she left us, she came to us when she was 5 suffering from a what was thought to be a food allergy. She was at times a very poorly girl throughout her life; for many years she was placed on high levels of steroids to stabilise her condition.

At the beginning of 2004 she had a major relapse and this time the steroid treatment did not work. We then had a huge number of tests re-done including x-rays and scans. The final test being sent to America which diagnosed her having  problems relating to digestion and not being able to absorb her food. She was given a few months to live in June 2004 but fought on until 2 March 2006.

She was a complete sweetie and all through her illness had fought to live, we know that Saff is now without suffering and we thank her for the memories.

Bobble - Departed 8 September 2006

Little Bobblee-Boo was a LaPerm with a big personality, she was born with an Open Fontanelle which meant that her skull did not fuse at birth. Her long term prognosis was unknown and we knew that she would be at risk of water on the brain developing at any stage. We hoped that she would reach maturity and discussed having a plate put in her skull once she was fully grown. There was never any thought, despite the many offers, of her not staying with us.

Despite her condition and fragile appearance she was a tom-boy kitten with a huge appetite for life, she loved to play-fight and was always on the go; running, playing, climbing and jumping with her siblings.

At just over 6 months she became withdrawn and in our hearts we knew that this was the start of the thing we had most dreaded but ever hopeful it was just a bug. Over the next two days and several trips to the vet including blood tests and x-rays, where she purred throughout, no signs of the condition were obvious. Sadly whilst at the vets, Little Bobble collapsed and our worst fears became real and we had to do the right thing by our little girl.

We are so happy to have had the chance of knowing and loving Bobble, she was a wonderful girlie who although only with us for six months packed an awful lot in.

We thank all of our beloved babies for the love, enjoyment and memories they have given. They are forever missed and never forgotten.
